KIRSTYN
I've been teaching English since 2018 to wonderful professionals from all around the world, and I love helping people reach their fluency goals. My classes are tailored to each student's needs and focus on eliciting as much speaking as possible so that students increase their confidence quickly. Informed by my degree in Linguistics, this approach awakens passive vocabulary, brings awareness to common mistakes and vocabulary gaps, and builds motor memory for better pronunciation. I am also a social entrepreneur, running a fundraising platform for nonprofits in my home country, South Africa.

Hello! I’m a native teacher from Vancouver, currently living in Serbia and finishing my Master’s degree in Psychology. I have over 5 years of experience teaching and motivating both children and adults to fully immerse into English through a fun, hands-on approach adapted to the specific needs and interests of every individual. I live on a game farm in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. I am a former lawyer with almost 25 years of experience in legal and business matters. I have been teaching for a few years, mainly focusing on teaching adults General English (beginners to advanced), Business English, and Legal English. I have a Bachelors of Law (LLB) degree and a TEFL certificate. I am also a qualified Strategic Life Coach. I love helping people, and teaching is one of my favorite ways to do that. Being a dedicated educator, I design and structure my lessons in a way that meets the specific goals of each student. With a Master’s degree in Education and more than a decade of experience as an ESL teacher, I have taught all levels, ages and specialties. I’ve been a fully-qualified English teacher for 17 years and have taught a wide range of classes, levels, nationalities and English types. My specialisation would be in the Cambridge First and Advanced exams (and advanced students in general), though I’m a good all-rounder. My focus is first and foremost on helping the student communicate in a friendly environment, but I can also help with specifics like presentations and interview preparation. Outside of work, I’m a writer, musician and podcaster and I also have a keen interest in psychology.

I am a patient, kind and certified online ESL Teacher who has a BA and BA Honors degree in Psychology. I have been teaching online since 2012 and specialize in general, travel, business, exam and interview English. I attended school in Dubai for two years where I learnt basic Arabic and French which gave me a lot of insight into learning a new language. My methodology is strongly influenced by this experience, combined with my studies in psychology in adapting my approach and course material to suit the level and pace of the student. I grew up in Switzerland and so speak fluent French which is particularly useful with my French students as I am able to understand and pre-empt the common mistakes that a lot of them make.
